demoScene - The first demo WITH 4 channel tracker music

As member of TEAM a.r.g. this is our ninth demo.

You’re free to contribute and make the demo bigger, better, showing what can be done with Arduboy

I wanted to create a demo with the same feel and looks as the keygen,
crack and demo’s from back in the Amiga days. And this one has even 4
channel tracker music going with it !!!

You should be able to upload this to your DEV kit and the retail Arduboys.

:bangbang:IMPORTANT : DO NOT PRESS THE RIGHT BUTTON ON THE DEV KIT :bangbang:

If you do, you short a pin on the kit.

So you want to hear music on the DEV kit too? Connect a small speaker,
buzzer or piezo to the right button and you’ll hear music ! How cool is
that  (put it in parallel with the button)

I could basically just listen to this all day. When does the CD come out?

It’s like an 8-track, only rounder.

OMG I can’t believe you would say that! It is so unlike an 8-track!

  • digital vs. analog
  • optical (laser!!) vs. magnetic
  • random access vs. sequential
  • old vs. older
  • nearly 2D vs. very 3D
  • round vs. rectangular (you got that right!)

:smiling_imp:

At least I got one right!

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh… What will happen if I click the right button on the retail arduboy!

you’ll get fireworks

No @User5115 nothing will happen on the Arduboys, but the DEV KIT was wired differently, so if you pressed the right button on the DEV KIT, you would short some pins (which is never good)

Right. Thanks! I just didn’t want to short curcuit the pins on my arduboy!

you might encounter problems, because since Arduino IDE 1.6.9 some things have changed. This demo should work with IDE version 1.6.9. I’ll look into creating .hex or .arduboy files soon, so there is no more need for people to compile if they just want to try the demo.

woah  THAT IS REALLY COOL!

I’m getting the following errors when linking, can someone clue me into the problem?

C:\Users\Spinal\AppData\Local\Temp\cc8QPxza.ltrans0.ltrans.o: In function `main’:

cc8QPxza.ltrans0.o:(.text.startup+0x934): undefined reference to `cia’

cc8QPxza.ltrans0.o:(.text.startup+0x938): undefined reference to `cia’

collect2.exe: error: ld returned 1 exit status

Yeah, this demo works with the old SQUAWK library, BUT because Since Arduino IDE 1.6.10 things changed … a lot … the sketch will no longer compile.

The solution is to use Arduino IDE 1.6.7

BUT because that is not a fun solution I’ll provide compiled .arduboy files (or .hex files)

Just give me some time.

@spinal and @User5115 and all the others, I created a compiled .arduboy file you can upload with our game loader.

I can’t use a compiled version, I have diy arduboy wish an ss1106 screen and the buttons are wired differently

Than you can’t hear the music …

Aww, man.
I don’t have windows. I live in a all-apple family, so I can only have mac os.
That sucks, i really did want to try this out.
