Development emulator

Hi all, I’ve just received my Arduboy and I’m looking forward to messing around with it.

I’ve got the Arduino IDE set up and interacting with the Arduboy just fine however I’m wondering if there is an integrated emulator I can use to speed up development while I get everything wrong for the first few weeks?

I’ve seen people have made emulators which is amazing however I’m wondering if anyone has something a bit more “integrated” into the IDE?

I don’t know if / how this may be nicely integrated with Arduino IDE.
I know others are also using other IDE’s - so hope someone with more experience might make a suggestion.

Not exactly integrated but here’s what I do:

  • Open the emulator in new sketch mode in a browser
    ProjectABE - Arduboy Emulator
  • Load or create a sketch in the IDE
  • Open the sketch folder from the IDE:
    • using
      Sketch → Show Sketch Folder
    • or Ctrl+K
  • Compile and create a .hex file for your sketch. (You will have to save any changes for this to work):
    • using
      Sketch → Export compiled Binary
    • or Ctrl+Alt+S
  • (The .hex file should appear or be updated in the sketch folder)
  • Drag and drop the .hex file onto the image of the Arduboy in the emulator

Continue to edit, save, create .hex, drag and drop as desired.
