With shipping to Oz, that came up to €58 … ouch. Might have to look for one locally.
Or take up sewing, maybe?
Can’t be much harder than C++, right? :P
Actually have you seen the machines that do the embroidering on caps … I could program one of those!
21 hours to go! I assume @bateske is going to tell us at midnight on the 1st? If he waits to (say) lunchtime, those of us in Australia and New Zealand lose the whole day!
Before anyone tells me there is a flaw in my logic, I know Aussies and Kiwis get to finish it ‘late’ too! I am just keen to know the subject.
I found a couple of free tools that may come in quite handy for the game jam. Playing with these as a warming up
- PixelFormer Image editor
- Piskel sprite editor/animator
- Tiled (Tile)map editor
I am actually pretty excited for this game jam!
Im probaly going to drop out of this game jam. Pyweek already screwed up my school life enough and I dont want to screw me further before the end of the year
It’s the 1 today in Aus
Has been for 12 hours.
OK! The time is now! The Game Jam Begins!
There are 3 Themes! You can choose any one of the themes, but actually you are encouraged to do your best to incorporate some aspect of each of the 3 themes in your game. Bonus points will be awarded by the effectiveness of combining all 3 themes!
The 3 Themes:
- Star Plan: Space Battle/Trade/Exploration Theme
- Kusoge: Intentionally Difficult Gameplay
- Education: Teach a lesson and verify results
Let the gaming begin!
Now I will have some more space games for my birthday yay.
Three themes? Great idea. Can’t wait to see what people make of this🤔
I’ve got an idea for one of the three themes - it might not pan out well so may inadvertently fall into the kusoge category.
Yessss! I really do not follow star-plan stuff (never seen the movies, etc) so this is perfect! Kusoge+Education sounds like an appealing game (i.e. solve the following surface integral entering the result with the dpad)
awesome … sort of like that word processor someone made. Totally appropriate for the Arduboy!
Cool! looks like my idea will fit those themes. Hopefully I’ll manage to get it playable before the deadline.
Now that the theme is out, maybe I’ll be making a game about teaching the player to make chicken tendies… IN SPACE.
That’s the beauty of the kusoge category.
If you screw up you can label it a kusoge and pretend it was intentional :P
Categories are open to intepretation,
so you could base it on another scifi series.
e.g. Star Czech, Babylon 9, Plan 10 (from outer space), Nearscape
Bump for babylon 9
Twitter user spacebruce makes an excellent observation:
however, I do think it’s possible to put something along the same spirit as kerbal, just without the depth, complexity and physics.
Aren’t there a lot of lunar lander games? I think there is already one for the Arduboy, actually…
