Plugged the ol Arduboy into a benchtop power supply to see what it could take!
We need more power captain!
Seems like anything more than 6 volts causes problems.
It trips the short circuit protection in the power supply before roasting it finally at about 8 volts.
Was there any blue smoke?
No but it looks like the silicon chipset in the glass of the oled got hot enough to melt the bonding film on top of it. It’s a failure mode I’ve noticed on the display before when I’ve over volted them. Never seen the white banding though, that’s a fun one.
