Hi, it’s been a while. I got everything I need to build my newest edition of my DIY Arduboy. I got a new soldering iron because my old one’s tip was not changeable and was in such bad condition. You also couldn’t change the temperature. Now that with this new one I can change the temperature, what temperature do you recommend for 60/40 rosin core solder? In Celsius please. Thanks.
60/40 Sn-Pb solder melts at 188 °C (370 °F), so something above that. How much higher depends on the thermal mass of both your iron and the joints you’re trying to solder.
I’d start at around 315 °C (600 °F) then increase it if required. You shouldn’t have to go above 370 °C (700 °F)
