Merged, Recompiled!
Hi! I really do love this game. Unfortunately… you have the controls messed up! The arduboy was modeled after the gameboy (hence the “boy” in its name) and so the arduboy has two buttons. However, on the gameboy, the right button is A and the left button is B. Your controls say, “A to play word”. I used the right button and it didn’t play. Apparently, you actually have to use the left button to play a word, which is actually the B button! The A and B buttons are mixed up! I do love this game though, very well made. Please fix the A and B button though!
Huh, interesting. First of all, TIL about the game boy buttons (my parents didn’t let me have one growing up).
So I’m using the the A_BUTTON
and B_BUTTON
constants as defined in Arduboy2.h. Looking at the other games here, it looks like it’s a known issue and swapped for everyone’s games?
For the Arduboy, the A button is on the left and the B button is on the right.
That’s the opposite of how it is on the Game Boy - and it’s supposed to be.
A bit of bonus trivia, and an easy way to remember which is which:
The A button is underneath the ‘A’ in the ‘ARDUBOY’ printed on the board,
and the B button is underneath the ‘B’.
(You have to tilt your Arduboy slightly sideways to see it.)
Oh! Yes, I have noticed that in games such as castleboy, (which I absolutely love) the jump is b and the action button is a. Well, it’s not your fault then! Thanks for letting me know about the switched a and b in the coding, that might come into play when I make my own games later. I do really love term twirl by the way, it’s a really fun game!
Thanks pharap! Didn’t know that the buttons lined up with the letters!
Hi @Corruptio- this would be a great game to include in the upcoming “GoldCart” for the FX chip: Goldcart: Production Flashcart Image.
Also, sent you a new PR
Nice, Merged! I love the way you reformatted the glyphs.
Dude! I love this game!! There’s a lot of words!
